BISHOP — A couple has been arrested in Inyo County after being connected to a crime spree that reportedly involved a forged key and stolen cars.
Bishop Police initially responded to a local motel at around 11:30 AM on August 29 on a report that two people had stayed in a room that hadn’t been rented to them.
When confronted by motel staff, the two suspects — 23-year-old Lorena Holdaway of Standish and 27-year-old Andrew Villarreal of Oxnard — fled the scene.
Responding officers located the suspects and found that Holdaway had felony and misdemeanor warrants to her name, as well as possession of a blueprint of a key. Villarreal was found to be in possession of a piece of metal that had been fashioned into a key matching the pattern on the blueprint.
Once the two were in custody, officers canvassed the area and came across a vehicle reported stolen out of Oxnard that was quickly connected to the couple.
They were soon also connected to a second vehicle reported stolen out of Bishop on August 25.
Police say they’ve confiscated other items that appear to have been stolen from other areas.
Holdaway was booked at the Inyo County Jail on her warrants, as well as suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and defrauding an innkeeper.
Villarreal was booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and defrauding an innkeeper.
