Bakersfield Assistant Police Chief arrested on domestic violence charge
BAKERSFIELD — A domestic violence allegation has led to the arrest of Evan Demestihas, Assistant Chief of Police for the city of Bakersfield.
Just after 12 AM on September 4th, officers were dispatched to the VIP Lounge on California Avenue for a welfare check.
At the scene, they met a woman in the parking who had visible injuries and said she’d been the victim of domestic violence.
Detectives identified the suspect as Demestihas and obtained an arrest warrant for felony domestic assault , but he ultimately turned himself in.
He remains housed at the Taft City Jail.
