SPRING VALLEY – On the evening of September 4th deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office tried to initiate a traffic stop on a red Dodge sedan near Elketon Boulevard and Jamacha Road.
Instead of a stopping, the driver accelerated the vehicle and fled, leading to a car chase. Soon the fleeing vehicle hit an Audi sedan near Imperial Avenue and 68th Street.
The two and a half minute, two mile vehicle chase was over, but the driver of the Dodge had not given up and tried to run on foot. The foot chase lasted a block.
29-year-old Melvin Alexander was detained and arrested for DUI, reckless evading, hit and run and flash incarceration.
The driver of the Audi was taken to a hospital for pain but had no visible injuries.
