Gang Member Identified and Arrested Following Shooting Outside Dollar Tree

Thanks to the public’s help, a gang member was brought into police custody nearly 2 months after allegedly shooting a man outside a Dollar Tree in Whittier.
According to the Whittier Police Department’s post on their Facebook page, the suspect approached the male victim and shot him twice in the upper leg before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police released photos obtained from a surveillance camera to enlist the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Pictured was a bearded Hispanic male who appeared to be about 40 years old, 5’8”, and wearing a blue bandana under a blue Dodgers cap. A photo of a female was also released, but it is not known whether she was involved.

Following extensive investigation and with the help of the public, police arrested 28-year-old Jose Reyes, a gang member from Whittier, on September 10th. He was booked into the L.A. County Jail and now awaits court proceedings.
