Rancho Cucamonga — A 71-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his own daughter, who died of stab wounds he reported to inflicting himself.
Suspect Joe Edward Montes called 911 at about 8:30 AM on September 16, 2019, and said that he had stabbed his daughter. San Bernardino deputies responded to the Rancho Cucamonga home, located in the 6300 block of Elkridge Place. There they found Montes’ 49-year-old daughter, Darlene Montes, who was “suffering from multiple stab wounds,” according to the release. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her wounds.
The suspect, who was still present at the home, was taken to Rancho Cucamonga Police Station for interview, where he was arrested on murder charges. He is being held at West Valley Detention Center.
A motive for the murder has not been disclosed to the public.
Police would like to make it clear to that “this was an isolated incident, there are no outstanding suspects which pose a threat to public safety.”
