FREMONT — A homeless man is facing charges for allegedly attacking two women inside stores in two separate unprovoked attacks. The suspect was located and arrested with help from witnesses of one of the attacks.
The first victim was a customer and the second victim a store employee. On September 19, police responded to a report of an assault at a business located on the 42200 block of Fremont Boulevard.
The caller told police that a man walked up to a woman and hit her in the face. Responding officers learned that the suspect first hit the victim with a rock and then with his hand.
The suspect walked away after hitting the victim, but witnesses directed officers to him. While questioning him, police said the man admitted hitting the woman because of her ethnicity.
The same man allegedly assaulted another woman working at a nearby business earlier the same morning.
The suspect identified as 29-year-old Trevor J. Dicks was arrested at 10:47 a.m. on suspicion of attacking both women. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail, and his probation revoked, stemming from a 2018 arrest for battery and vandalism.
Dicks remains in custody facing four charges, pending a pretrial hearing at the East County Hall of Justice on October 1 –
• Assault and battery,
• Assault with a deadly weapon,
• Assault by means likely to cause great bodily injury,
• Vandalism causing damage under $400.
