Shooting in Palermo leads to two arrests

OROVILLE — An investigation into a shooting in Palermo has led to the arrest of two individuals last Thursday.

30-year-old Jorge Naranjo-Alvarez of Gridley is accused of shooting at an occupied vehicle on August 27, 2019. After the shooting, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Alvarez, as well as search warrants for two Gridley residences associated with him.

On Thursday, September 24, officials served the warrants, during which they located three firearms, ammunition, just over $7K in cash, and approximately 375 marijuana plants.

Naranjo-Alvarez was arrested on suspicion of shooting at an occupied vehicle, possession of marijuana for sale, and illegal cultivation of marijuana.

A second person, identified as Miguel Naranjo-Alvarez, was also taken into custody for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of marijuana for sale, and illegal cultivation of marijuana.
