Sneaky Smash & Grab: Group Steals Choice Sneakers, Two Arrested
CLAREMONT – A September 30th call at 11:44 PM from a concerned citizen sent Claremont PD Officers on scene to 143 Harvard Avenue. The caller reportedly “saw a large group of males smashing the glass and stealing shoes from Authentix Sneaker and Clothing Boutique,” said Council Member and former Claremont Police Commissioner Edgar Reece.
The responding officers reported shattered glass at the scene of a burglary at Authentix Sneaker and Clothing Boutique. Multiple pairs of shoes were stolen. Witnesses described the suspects as black males in their late teens.
Additional officers arrived in the area on Yale Ave., north of First St., to apprehend and detain two subjects carrying the footwear: Andrew Simon (41) of Pomona, and Chanelle Hall (26) of La Quinta.
“The others in the group fled the scene running south on College Ave. across the railroad tracks and were not located,” said Reece. “Both subjects were positively identified by a witness and were arrested for Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property.”
