WATSONVILLE -Early on the morning of September 26 three men broke into Fatima’s Fine Jewelry on the 300 block of Main Street and stole items from the store.
That same day, after 9:00 p.m., an officer with the Watsonville Police Department recognized one of the three suspects from surveillance video footage of the burglary and arrested him.
29-year-old Watsonville transient Jorge Garcia was nabbed in the CVS parking lot on Rodriguez Street. The suspect was wearing the same clothes that he wore when he was caught on camera during the burglary.
Garcia was booked for commercial burglary. He also admitted his role in the crime. He faces charges for another commercial burglary in August at a restaurant on the 600 block of Main Street.
The WPD has not released the name of the second suspect, although they say that ” we believe we have identified that second burglar that was with Garcia and we are currently looking for that person.”
This story has a twist as well.
Apparently, about five minutes before this duo entered Fatima’s to steal, another unidentified masked man “threw a large rock through a glass door and entered the jewelry store where he again used rocks to smash display cases.”
The WPD adds, “At this time, we do not have any leads on the masked burglar. We ask that if any community member has information on either one of our outstanding suspects to call Detective Tyler Wildey at 831-768-3356.”
