Ventura County – Some criminals get all the breaks. One such example may well be 22-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Douglas Whitaker who stands accused of multiple serious offenses and remains free on bail.
It all started in August of 2019 when, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Eduardo Malagon, Whitaker became the object of the VCSD Narcotics Unit “suspected of selling narcotics to Ventura County residents.”
The investigation at that time included the execution of a search warrant upon Whitaker’s residence. Inside the home, “a quantity of narcotics was seized,” earning Whitaker an arrest on “various narcotics violations.”
Whitaker was released on his own recognizance on September 3rd, pending a future court date to face those drug charges.
But while the narcos were booking evidence of Whitaker’s drug dealing, they came across “evidence showing Whitaker was sexually involved with underage females.”
Additional search warrants were served and executed, leading to the discovery of “child pornography possessed by Whitaker,” and to his arrest once again on September 27th. He was then transported to Ventura County Jail where he was booked “on various sex charges” with his bail set at $50,000.
Four days later, Whitaker was charged with two counts of unlawful sex with a minor, oral copulation of a child under 18, and possession of child pornography. He promptly posted bail and was released, with his court appearance on those charges scheduled for October 10, 2019.
