Robbery/Attack at Stater Brothers’s Liquor Department, Two Suspects At Large
CLAREMONT – Council member and former Claremont Police Commissioner Ed Reece has sounded the alert of a robbery/attack at the Stater Brothers Market on October 14th. Police are investigating an incident which began in the liquor department, when two suspects took four bottles of alcohol and headed toward the east-door exit.
An employee confronted the men as they attempted to leave without paying for the libations. A man currently known as “Suspect #1” used one of the stolen bottles to strike the employee in the face.
“Both suspects then ran out of the door to their vehicle, which was parked in the parking lot,” said Reece. “The suspects were last seen driving north on Towne Ave towards IS-210.”
The Facebook post gave the following description: Suspect #1: Black male, early 20’s wearing a red sweatshirt, dark pants, and white shoes. Suspect #2: Black male, early 20’s wearing a black t-shirt, light blue pants, and black shoes. Suspect vehicle: 90’s model Saturn 4 door grey and tan in color. #claremontpd #edreece #claremont #police
A flurry of responses and comments expressed great concern regarding future shopping at the long-standing neighborhood market. Reece assured the community:
“Council Member Ed Reece Jen Gin prior to being on City Council I was Chair of the Police Commission. This is the first robbery I have been made aware at Stater Bros.”
“Council Member Ed Reece Constance Condit it’s a nice store!”
“Council Member Ed Reece Gwendolairian Palmer The employee is okay!”
