VALLEY SPRINGS – The Range Bar was the scene of a fight on the evening of October 12th around 11:00 p.m. Deputies with the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the location in the 100 block of Quail Oaks Road.
Deputies came upon a man who needed medical attention, the “victim of a serious violent battery.” He was taken to the hospital.
Investigators began processing the crime scene and interviewing bystanders. They also “collected physical evidence and reviewed surveillance video.”
The next night detectives arrested 38-year-old Benjamin David Robitaille. He was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with great bodily injury and battery with serious injury.
Robitaille posted a $110,000 bail and was released.
