The Corona Police Department recently reported an arrest for arson –
“Yesterday, October 23, 2019, around 10:40 a.m., Corona Police Dispatch received a call from a citizen reporting a brush fire near the 4000 block of Prado Road. The observant citizen watched a female burn dry brush using a flammable liquid before walking away. The vigilant citizen was able to provide the suspect’s clothing description and stayed on the phone with police dispatchers to direct officers to the suspect’s location. Officers located the female nearby the site trying to ignite the second area of brush on fire. Officers detained her before she was successful. Officers identified the female as 27-year-old Aysah Magierek of Corona. Aysah is currently on probation for arson in Riverside County. Officers arrested Aysah for probation violations, arson, and providing false information to peace officers. Our partners at the Corona Fire Department responded six fire apparatus, and they quickly contained the blaze. The area burned was about 30’x60’.
The Corona Police Department thanks the observant citizen who “saw something and said something.” Their diligence prevented a dangerous fire from spreading and endangering others.”
