The Fairfield Police Department issued this press release on November 7th –
“Yesterday afternoon, Officer Spillner was on patrol near Atlantic Ave and Marigold Dr. While there, he observed two subjects in a vehicle not wearing their safety belts. When Officer Spillner attempted to turn around to contact the vehicle and occupants, it sped away into the residential neighborhood. Officer Spillner searched the area and located the vehicle a short distance away on Heather Drive near Begonia Blvd.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, Officer Spillner located an illegally possessed loaded handgun, around 2 pounds of marijuana and evidence to show the marijuana was possessed for sales. Marco Antonio Ramirez-Bolanos, 20 years old from Fairfield was arrested for several firearms related offenses, providing a false identity and possession of marijuana for sales.
Officer Spillner originally located the subjects in the vehicle down the street from one of our schools. While this enforcement stop started from a minor traffic infraction, we pride ourselves in having a presence around our schools. Even though the laws surrounding marijuana have changed in recent years, we think everyone can agree firearms and drugs have no place around our schools.”
