SALINAS — Police have announced the arrests of two individuals earlier this month on multiple weapon- and drug-related charges.
In the first incident, Monterey County authorities served a search warrant on the 3000 block of Hermitage Road on the morning of Friday, November 8th.
30-year-old Thomas Hopkins was taken into custody, and a search of the premises turned up three firearms, drugs and paraphernalia, and stolen property tied to a recent burglary.
In the second incident, authorities served a search warrant on the 1200 block of Palermo Drive on Saturday, November 9, and arrested 30-year-old Juan Macias, reportedly an active Sureno gang member, as he was leaving.
A K9 officer at the scene also alerted to possible narcotics in the garage. Officers ended up finding an unregistered 9mm handgun, 3/4 pound of heroin, 1 ounce of meth, and just over $8K in cash.
