HOLLISTER – An officer with the Hollister Police Department stopped a vehicle near 2:00 a.m. on November 9 in the 300 block of South Street.
The vehicle was “weaving within the road and exhibiting signs of the driver possibly being intoxicated.”
The driver, 32-year-old Gregory Anthony Hernandez, was arrested for “suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.”
The arresting officer discovered drugs on Hernandez as he arrested him.
The passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Brandon Ortiz, was in possession of a concealed dirk or dagger.
Inside the vehicle officers discovered a loaded handgun as well as stolen property. Both suspects denied knowing anything about it.
Officers then also found a wallet in the car belonging to someone else. The owner of the wallet reported that he had lost it several days before.
The HPD concludes, “Mr. Hernandez was booked into the county jail on the charges of, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, misappropriation of lost property and carrying a loaded firearm. Ortiz was booked on the charges of, carrying a concealed dagger and carrying a loaded firearm.”
