SAN JOSE – A Santa Clara County prosecutor has landed himself in hot water for reportedly using his own daughter as bait in a plan to catch a suspected child molester.

The San Jose Police Department has made an arrest in a case in which a 76-year-old man was inappropriately touching a young 13-year-old teen while she walked her dog along the Los Alamitos Trail located in the City of San Jose.

Police sought the help of the public in identifying the possible suspect, but with time passing, Ali Mohammad Lajmiri had gone unidentified.

That is when the prosecuting attorney, whose daughter was the center of the attack, placed a hidden camera on his daughter and had her walk her dog along the same trail where the suspect had last been seen.

He then used his cell phone to communicate with his daughter as they walked along the trail in search of the suspect. Lajmiri took the bait. The video of the attack was given to police, allowing them to positively identify the suspect.

According to Sergeant Enrique Garcia, “Detectives obtained an arrest warrant and took Lajmiri into custody on November 12, 2019.”

Lajmiri was subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Jail for the following charges of Lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under the age of 14 years, penal code 288(a), lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under the age of 14 years by the use of force, violence, duress, menace, or fear, penal code 288(b)(1), and False imprisonment, penal code 236.

The suspect is currently being held on a $3-million dollar bail warrant.
