Just after 12:30 AM on November 20th, a police officer noticed commotion at a local bar during his patrol of downtown Visalia.
The officer was making his way to the bar when he was advised a man, 23-year old Abraham San Miguel, had a gun.
It was later learned San Miguel was kicked out of the bar about an hour prior for touching a female patron inappropriately and fighting with staff. Now he was back, armed with a gun.
Before the officer made it to the bar, he observed San Miguel run from the area with the handgun. The officer commanded him to stop.
San Miguel ignored the commands, jumped into his vehicle, and began driving the wrong way on Court Street.
He crashed into a vehicle on Court and Acequia before continuing to flee on foot. San Miguel reach the Marriot Hotel and disposed of the handgun in the hotel’s pool. He was apprehended shortly after.
San Miguel, an active gang member, was booked at the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility. He could face charges for felony hit and run, sexual battery, parole violation, resisting arrest, and numerous firearm related charges.
He remains at the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility at the time of this writing with bail set at $45,000.
