The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office has issued the following announcement detailing the results of their “no Shave November” fund raiser.
“During the month of November, Inyo County Sheriff’s Office employees were offered the opportunity to participate in No-Shave November; each participant was required to donate $25 minimum.
The goal of No-Shave November is to create public awareness for cancer by growing out hair (which many cancer patients lose) and donating the money that would normally be spent on grooming to a cancer-specific charity.
Judging was held today at the main office in Independence, CA. Participants were able to vote for “best beard” and “honorable mention”. Deputy Michael Atkins won “best beard”, and Deputy Michael Cuthbert won “honorable mention”.
Both names will be commemorated on an Inyo Sheriff plaque. Sheriff’s Office employees donated $795 which will be divided among the No-Shave’s identified programs: Fight Colorectal Cancer, St. Jude’s Research Hospital, and Prevent Cancer Foundation.
As an added perk for participating, Inyo County Sheriff Jeff Hollowell offered to wave the grooming policy and allow those who donated to keep their facial hair throughout the month of December.
“This was the first time that the Sheriff’s Office participated in No-Shave November,” stated Sheriff Hollowell. “I am proud of everyone who decided to take part in the program, and I look forward to hopefully surpassing the $795 donation next year!”
Any member of the public can donate by going to the following webpage: https://no-shave.org/ . Under “Make Donation to Member, Team or Organization”, click “Organization”, then add “Inyo County Deputy Sheriff’s Association”.
