The Sonora Police Department issued the following statement regarding the arrest of a man on felony drug charges via their Facebook page.
“The Sonora Police Department arrested 22-year-old Thomas Brady Turner of Railroad Flat on two felony drug charges Sunday night.
At 10:23 pm, an officer stopped a 1995 Ford Explorer traveling northbound on Highway 49 for a vehicle code violation. The officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and began questioning the four occupants. The driver, Thomas Turner, initially admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and then told the officer he had having psilocybin or “Magic Mushrooms” in the vehicle as well.
The officer conducted a search of the vehicle and located over 80 grams of marijuana and over 11 grams of psilocybin. A person may only possess up to one ounce (28.5 grams) of marijuana for recreational use in California. Possession of any amount of psilocybin is unlawful in California.
Turner was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.”
