SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department has made an arrest of a high school wrestling coach for lewd and lascivious acts with a child age 14. According to San Jose Police Officer Gina Tepoorten, “In early October 2019, detectives received information that suspect Bruce Shelton engaged in inappropriate behavior with the victim.”
The suspect had on several occasions sexually assaulted the young teen. An investigation began after the teen had told his parents of the inappropriate behavior. Shelton had worked at Oak Grove High School as a wrestling coach for over 35 years.
Befriending the young teen, Shelton had invited the victim back to his home in Los Banos where he inappropriately touched him. Tepoorten said, “the suspect inappropriately touched the victim between December 2016 and February 2017.”
Anyone with information regarding this incident or any other similar incidents is urged to contact Detective Michael O’Grady of the San Jose Police Department’s ICAC/CED Unit at (408) 537-1382.
