The Tustin Police Department posted on their Facebook page this story of the arrest of three people involved in a robbery:
“On Sunday, November 17, 2019, at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers from the Tustin Police Department contacted five subjects at a park in the 13600 block of Parkcenter Lane. While speaking to the subjects, it was discovered they were the victims of an armed robbery in Tustin earlier in the evening. The victims were in a parking structure in the 2900 block of Edinger Ave. when they were approached by three male suspects. One of the suspects displayed a handgun and struck two of the victims in the head. The suspects then took the victims wallet and jewelry and fled the scene.
Two of the victims suffered minor injuries as a result of the assault and were treated at the scene by paramedics from the Orange County Fire Authority. Detectives from the Tustin Police Department took over the investigation and were quickly able to identify all three suspects.
On Friday, November 22, 2019, the Tustin Police Department’s Special Response Team, Criminal Investigations Unit, G.R.A.D.E. Unit, and the Irvine/Tustin SWAT team, executed a multi-location search warrant in the City of Orange and City of Tustin. During the course of the warrant service, all three suspects were taken into custody and a loaded firearm was recovered.
All three suspects were booked at the Orange County Jail on the following charges:
• OMAR CARRENO
• 22-year-old resident of Orange
o PC 211 – Robbery
o PC 245(a)(2) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon
o Prior arrest for possession of a stolen firearm
• GIOVANNY MONROY
• 23-year-old resident of Tustin
o PC 211- Robbery
o Currently on parole for assault with a deadly weapon
• CLARENCE PHILLIPS
• 21-year-old resident of Tustin
o PC 211- Robbery
The Tustin Police Department will seek gang enhancements on all three suspects.”
