4 Suspects Arrested for Home Invasion Robberies Committed in 3 Cities
LAFAYETTE — Authorities recently arrested four individuals suspected of perpetrating home invasion robberies in three cities. Lafayette officers worked in conjunction with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and a Fairfield police SWAT team.
The four suspects are believed responsible for robberies that occurred in Lafayette in November and October. During one of the robberies a couple was restrained inside their home and suffered minor injuries.
Two of the suspects were also arrested for other home invasion robberies that happened in Benicia and Oakland. During a robbery in Oakland, a man was driven to a nearby bank to withdraw money from an ATM machine.
All four suspects were arrested during a raid at a residence on the 500 block of Pacific Avenue in Fairfield. Lafayette police recovered guns and property believed stolen during the various robberies.
Adama Diop, 20 of Fairfield and Joseph C. Wells Jr., 22 of Fairfield, are facing 25 felony counts. Charges filed against them include carjacking, grand theft, kidnapping and robbery.
Diop and Joseph Wells are each being held in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $9.1 million bond. Two other suspects are no longer in custody.
Wells’ cousin, 24-year-old Immanuel Wells of Vallejo was arrested for conspiracy and possession of stolen property.
The fourth suspect is 21-year-old Mayaebone Tanyao of Fairfield. Tanyao was arrested for conspiracy, receiving stolen property and child endangerment. She and Joseph Wells have a child together.
