A murder suspect from Chicago was arrested in Vacaville thanks to teamwork among various law enforcement agencies. The Vacaville Police Department issued the following statement:
“You’ve often seen us post on the incredible partnerships it takes to make Vacaville such a safe community. From other law enforcement agencies in our county, to our community members and businesses, we all work towards that common goal.
Last night was no different, however this time it was one of our federal partners, the United States Marshals. The Marshals had tracked 27-year-old Michael Delvon Dent from Chicago to an address in the 600 block of Arcadia Drive in Vacaville. Dent was wanted on a homicide warrant out of Illinois for a murder involving a firearm where another man was shot and killed.
Due to the crime of violence Dent was wanted for, information the firearm used in the homicide was still outstanding and his lengthy criminal history, the US Marshals requested the assistance of the Vacaville Police Department’s SWAT team.
Our SWAT and Crisis Negotiations Team members responded and after a brief standoff Dent surrendered and was safely taken into custody. He was booked into Solano County Jail on the Illinois homicide warrant and will await extradition back to that state.
We so appreciate the patience and understanding of the residents on Arcadia Drive who were impacted by this incident and of course our ongoing partnerships with our fellow law enforcement agencies to keep Vacaville safe.
