Man Arrested on Suspicion of Sexually Assaulting Sleeping Female Victim in Santa Ana

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in Santa Ana for allegedly sexually assaulting a female victim while she was asleep in her apartment.
The suspect, identified as David Ceja of Santa Ana, allegedly entered the apartment, located in the 1300 block South Standard Avenue, and sexually assaulted the victim during the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 10, 2019.
“When the victim woke up and observed the male, whom she did not know, she yelled for assistance at which time the suspect fled,” according to the Santa Ana Police Department’s written release.
One of the victim’s family members heard the cries and chased down, then caught the suspect. The suspect sustained injuries during the course of the physical dispute. Santa Ana police officers responded to the call about the incident at 6:22 AM. Suspect Ceja received medical treatment for his injuries and was subsequently booked at the Santa Ana Police Department Jail. He has been charged with sexual assault and burglary.
