The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one and cited another in connection to an incident of alleged shoplifting last week.
Just before 3 PM on Thursday, December 12, deputies responded to a business on the 1200 block of Evergreen Road in Redway, where a man identified as 45-year-old Tommy Michael Frost had reportedly been captured on surveillance video shoplifting a knife the day before.
The business owner told deputies that a person matching the description of the individual on the video had been seen with a U-Haul van near Tooby Park early in the afternoon and was able to provide surveillance video, a plate number for the U-Haul, and a last known location of the suspect.
Deputies caught up with the U-Haul as it was traveling on Redwood Drive and entering U.S. Highway 101 North, at which point they conducted a traffic stop.
Deputies contacted the two occupants — identified as Frost and 39-year-old Joni Leanne Pullen — and discovered that the U-Haul had been reported stolen out of Eureka. Drug paraphernalia were also found in the vehicle.
Pullen was cited and released on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, while Frost was arrested and booked on charges of possession of stolen property, shoplifting, driving with an expired license, and violation of probation.
