Ventura County – Some people are slow learners, as evidenced by the December 13th arrest of 47-year-old Ventura resident A. Marcus Waite.
When detectives attached to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Combined Agency Team (VCAT)—whose members include personnel from the VCSD, the Oxnard Police Department, and the FBI—first made contact with Waite in January, 2019, he was found in possession of substantial amounts of heroin and methamphetamine, as well as nearly $30,000 in cash. He was arrested at that time and charged with possession of methamphetamine for sales.
According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Robert Davidson, Waite posted bail on that bust but was arrested just a month later, in February, 2019. At that time, a search warrant of Waite’s residence and vehicle lead to the discovery of “approximately 906 grams of methamphetamine as well as indicia of narcotic sales.” He was then arrested and charged once again with possession of methamphetamine for sales as well as for transportation of methamphetamine.
With his bail then set at $50,000, Waite once again posted bail and was soon out of custody.
Then, with Waite presumably on their radar, in December 2019 VCAT detectives still yet again received credible information that Waite had not learned the error of his ways and was, in fact, back in business “selling narcotics in the City of Ventura.”
The cops now had additional evidence of Waite’s ongoing enterprise, obtained a search warrant, and on December 13th made contact with Waite at a Ventura motel. Between the motel room and his vehicle, cops found a new cache of methamphetamine and heroin and promptly took Waite into custody.
Waite was booked into Ventura County Jail with his bail amount increased to $200,000 while the Ventura County District Attorney’s office is contemplating “special allegations that allow for enhanced punishment.”
