TUSTIN – On the evening of December 9th, 62-year-old David Nakaki was stabbed near the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Norwood Park Place. Officers were called to the scene where they came upon Nakaki. Life saving efforts were made, however Nakaki died shortly thereafter at a local hospital.
The ensuing investigation led to the identification of “a vehicle that may have been involved” in the incident.
Later, the vehicle was located in Santa Ana and investigators “positively identified it as being at the scene of the crime.”
On December 28th detectives arrested 19-year-old Miguel Orellana and 25-year-old Erika Pineda. The duo were booked for murder.
It appears as if robbery was the motive for the attack. The Tustin Police Department attributes “DNA evidence, witness statements and outstanding investigative work” to leading to the arrests.
