“On January 1, 2020, two RCPD Motor Officers were proactively patrolling our community. While waiting at a red light at Folsom Boulevard and Cordova Lane, the officers observed a vehicle approaching behind them appearing like it was not going to stop. Fortunately, the vehicle stopped within just feet of the rear of the police motorcycles.
One of the officers attempted to make contact with the driver, but the driver drove around and away from the officers. After a short pursuit, the officers were able to stop the vehicle nearby.
Officers observed the driver was showing signs of impairment and determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol at over twice the legal limit. Officers also located several open containers during a search of the vehicle. Officers arrested the driver, 18-year-old Tiem Jatios of Sacramento, and booked him at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
As we kick off 2020, RCPD reminds our community to drive sober or get pulled over. RCPD will continue to focus on traffic safety education and enforcement throughout the year.”
