45-Year-Old Uber Driver Arrested for Sexually Assaulting 25-Year-Old Female Passenger
A 45-year-old Uber driver from Tustin has been arrested for sexually assaulting a woman en route to her home.
The incident took place in July 2018. The victim, a 25-year-old female resident of Santa Ana, called for an Uber after she was involved in a traffic collision in Tustin and arrested for driving under the influence.
The suspect, 45-year-old Amir Attia, picked up the woman from the Tustin Police Department in order to take her home. “Somewhere along the way, Attia stopped and sexually assaulted the victim. This was confirmed through DNA evidence,” according to the release.
Attia, who was previously convicted of sexual battery in 1993, was arrested once again on January 8, 2020, by Santa Ana Police Department Special Crimes Section detectives. He was charged with digital penetration and sexual battery. Attia has been booked at Orange County Jail with a bail set at $150,000.
