It began as a traffic stop and became a pursuit when the driver took off and fled on foot.
On December 30 the CHP, Tehema County Sheriff’s Office and Tehema County Probation Department worked together on the stop, near Hooker Creek Road and I-5.
The driver, and the passenger, were both on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
K-9 Riggs joined the search, sniffing out the vehicle and finding 17 grams of cocaine, a scale, packaging material, drug paraphernalia and ammunition.
The press release finally states, “The Tehama County Probation Department has submitted a report to the District Attorney’s Office requesting prosecution on the subjects for possession for sale of a controlled substance, possession of ammunition by a felon.”
