Chico PD issues press release on shoplifting arrest

“Chico, CA – On 1/13/20, at approximately 1437 hours, Chico Police Officers responded to the area of Kohl’s for a reported shoplifting that had just occurred. A Kohl’s employee last saw the suspect riding a bicycle north bound towards Humboldt Rd on the bike path behind the business. Officers responded to the area and contacted a male matching the description, later identified as Duke CLAYTON, age 30, on Humboldt Rd/Bruce Street.
During the investigation, Kohl’s employees positively identified CLAYTON as the involved suspect. CLAYTON additionally had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. CLAYTON was ultimately arrested for shoplifting and the warrant. During the search, Officers discovered narcotics and over 250 new hypodermic needles in CLAYTON’s possession.
CLAYTON was later transported to Butte County Jail for possession of narcotics, theft, and the misdemeanor warrant. The stolen property was returned to the business.”
