Burglar cuts a hole in ceiling of Sonora business

Early on the Sunday morning of December 22, a burglary alarm sounded at a business in the 700 block of Mono Way.

Officers from the Sonora Police Department arrived but found no signs of forced entry from the exterior of the building.

Officers however did say they located “a man-sized hole in the ceiling of the building” , From here someone gained entry to burglarize the business.

The combination of surveillance evidence and community tips led to the identification of 40-year-old Storm S. Corral as a suspect. Corral was subsequently arrested for burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, confessing to the crimes.

Corral was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail on the charges, with his bails set at $50,000.

The SPD added, “Additionally, because Corral was on Post Release Community Supervision with a history of theft and burglary, the Tuolumne County Probation Department placed a hold on Corral.”
