The Redding Police Department issued this official Press Release about a man weilding an axe –
“On January 19th, 2020, at 4:17 A.M., Redding Police officers responded to a 911 call of a male subject swinging an axe and threatening citizens in the parking lot of the AM/PM gas station located on Lake Blvd. in Redding. Several Redding Police Officers responded and made contact with Donald Priddy, 60 years of Redding, on the sidewalk in front of Cassidy’s Auto Lube.
Priddy was laying down next to the axe and officers gave him numerous commands to move away from the weapon, but Priddy remained non-compliant. In hopes of gaining Priddy’s cooperation and out of concern for the safety of the public, Officer Kofford brought out K-9 Hank and warned Priddy that if he did not move away from the axe the K-9 would be released.
Priddy continued to refuse to comply and K-9 Hank was released to assist in the apprehension of Priddy.
Priddy was taken into custody and treated at the Shasta Regional Medical Center. Priddy was then booked into the Shasta County Jail for brandishing the axe at citizens, trespassing on the AM/PM property, and resisting and obstructing peace officers.”
