FAIRFIELD – Detectives with the Fairfield Police Department were already familiar with 56-year-old Timothy Purvis, recently arrested for drug sales.
On January 21, Special Operations Team detectives saw Purvis as he drove around North Texas Street and East Pacific Avenue.
Being on Post Release Commuinity Supervision, Purvis waived his 4th amendment right to search and seizure and can be searched by officers during routine compliance checks.
Detectives contacted Purvis, with the assistance of a canine unit. K9 Leon searched Purvis’ vehicle and gave indication that drugs were inside of it.
Inside the vehicle, officers found heroin, meth, a scale and a loaded revolver.
The FPD noted that “Purvis was arrested and booked into county jail for a violation of his PRCS along with additional drug sales and firearm charges.”
This incident underscores “the importance of routine compliance checks with probationers and parolees.”
