A business located on the 2800 block of West Garces Highway in Delano was burglarized on 12/24/2019. They reported the $33,000 worth of missing equipment to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Delano Substation.
On 01/16/2020, deputies assigned to the case worked alongside the KCSO Rural Crimes Investigation Unit to fulfill search warrants at homes on the 2600 block of Pond Road and 300 block of Albany Street.
The search was successful as the investigative team found the $33,000 worth of missing equipment and $32,000 worth of additional stolen property.
The case had another break on 01/23/2020 when a storage unit connected with the suspects was searched. Inside, $15,000 worth of stolen product was located, including a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition. In total, deputies recovered property valued at around $80,000 belonging to ten Kern County businesses.
Four suspects were arrested in connection with this case and booked into Kern County Jail. On 01/16/2020, 29-year old Leonides Rivera and 45-year old Fernando Rangel were arrested. Rivera faces conspiracy, possession of stolen property, resisting a peace officer, and violating his parole.
No bail has been set. Rangel faces conspiracy, possession of stolen property, possession of narcotic sales, and felon in possession of ammunition and booked into Kern County Jail.
His bail is set at $60,000. 30-year old Rena Rivera was arrested on 01/23/2020 for burglary, conspiracy, grand theft, possession of stolen property, possession of ammunition by a felon, and a felon in possession of a firearm.
Her bail is set at $130,000. Lastly, 38-year old Sylvia Esquivel was arrested on 01/24/2020 for burglary, grand theft, conspiracy, and possession of stolen property. Her bail is set at $95,000.
