A Redding man on probation for burglary was arrested recently after allegedly prowling around cars and making threatening gestures at the family who confronted him.
A family living off Elizabeth Way said they spotted 27-year-old Jordan Ericsson prowling around their neighbor’s vehicles and went outside to call him out. Police say Ericsson responded by yelling back and reaching toward his waistband as if he had a firearm. He then drew an object that appeared to be a firearm and began walking towards them.
One of the family members then drew his own firearm (which he is licensed to carry), prompting Ericsson the neighborhood.
Officers and K-9 Otto were dispatched to the area to search for Ericsson and eventually found him in a nearby yard. He surrendered without incident.
Though no firearm was found on him or in the area, police did find a blue lighter with a pistol-like grip on his person. Officers say Ericsson also admitted to checking car door handles and taking a purse from an unlocked vehicle at a different house.
Burglary tools and heroin were also reportedly found during a search of Ericsson’s property.
