Pair arrested for attempted murder shooting that left victim paralyzed

The Modesto Police Department announced the arrest of two gang members in a 2019 shooting on their official Facebook page –
“On 10/31/18, at approximately 11:15 pm, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 4400 block of Coffee Road for the report of a subject shot multiple times.
Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a large party was taking place. One victim was located with several gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was transported to local medical facilities with life threatening injuries. As a result of the shooting, the victim was paralyzed.
The suspects were believed to have fled on foot into the surrounding orchards. During the initial investigation, limited suspect information was obtained.
Earlier this month, MPD Homicide Detectives developed information regarding this shooting, which included the identification of the two suspects.
On 1/28/20, MPD’s Homicide Detectives, along with the Major Crimes and Street Gang Units, located and arrested 20-year-old Norvale Howard of Modesto and 19-year-old David Nelson-Castillo, also of Modesto, for attempted murder and other felonious charges.
During this investigation we learned both suspects are connected with the Valley Boy Crip criminal street gang.
