“Convicted Felon, Ernest Galvan, a 27 year old resident of San Jacinto was arrested this evening for assault with a deadly weapon, vehicle theft, assault on a police officer and parole violation.
At approximately 3:15 p.m. Hemet Police Dispatch Center received a call of a vehicle theft that had just occurred from a car wash in the 100 block of N. Inez St. The victim, after almost being run over, chased the vehicle on foot and saw it drive north on State St. and turn east onto Menlo Ave. The vehicle was described as a brown GMC truck.
A few minutes later, Hemet Police Officers spotted the vehicle, stuck in traffic in the area of Menlo Ave. and San Jacinto St. The driver of the vehicle – Galvan, refused to exit and he was pulled out of the vehicle. Galvan refused to follow the officers’ commands and a use of force occurred. Galvan was ultimately taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Riverside County Jail. The truck was released to the victim at the scene.
Further investigation revealed that Galvan got into the victim’s truck while it was being washed and that the victim ran to the vehicle and pleaded with Galvan to get out of the truck. Rather than stopping, Galvan rapidly accelerated and almost ran the victim over before fleeing the scene.”
