Quartet of would-be thieves at Dick’s in Petaluma

The Petaluma Police released this press release about theft and fraudulent return of goods –

Petaluma Police Department received a call from Dick’s Sporting Goods that three subjects were in the store and attempting to return merchandise that was stolen hours prior from Dick’s in Fairfield.

The subjects matched the suspects caught on video surveillance during the Fairfield theft and were able to return the stolen merchandise for gift cards due to lack of receipts. Officers arrived just as the subjects began to drive away from the parking lot and initiated a traffic stop.

Officers contacted Jovon Jenkins, Doshanie Johnson, Jordan Henry, and Rayshaan Johnson. Jenkins was found to be on probation for similar crimes. Officers searched Jenkins’ vehicle and located the gift cards, tagged clothing believed to be stolen from other stores, and a police style baton.

After conferring with both Dick’s stores and Fairfield Police Department, Jenkins, D. Johnson, and Henry were arrested for burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. Jenkins was additionally arrested for unlawful possession of the baton. R. Johnson was arrested for an outstanding warrant for similar crimes. All were booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

According to Dick’s Loss Prevention, who are well versed in organized retail theft crews, the suspects have been captured on video committing thefts at several stores. Through information sharing, Petaluma Police Department will be assisting other agencies with their prosecutions of these suspects.”
