Here’s a feel-good story from the Fairfield Police Departments official Facebook page-
“Earlier tonight, Fairfield PD received a report of a missing 83 year old man with dementia. After speaking to his family and taking the initial report, we notified the Solano County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team, and put out a Nixle Alert to the community.
As the Search and Rescue Team was arriving and setting up to begin their search, an alert citizen saw the Nixle Alert and called FPD, stating the missing person was at a fast food restaurant in Vacaville. We asked our partners from the Vacaville Police Department to check the restaurant and, sure enough, the missing man was there and unharmed! He was quickly reunited with his family. We received the call of his whereabouts within 20 minutes of putting out the alert.
This is truly where Community Partnerships pay off. We want to thank the person who called us for signing up for Nixle Alerts, reading the alert, and seeing the missing man. Thank you for caring and getting involved! We also want to thank the Sheriff’s Office and Vacaville PD for jumping in to assist us without hesitation.
If you would like to subscribe to our Nixle Alert system, you can text 94533 to 888777 or go to www.nixle.com to sign up. You never know when you will have the opportunity to make your community a safer place. — feeling thankful.”
