Here is yet another story from the Madera Police Department Official Facebook page about a DUI collision –
“There are two important lessons to be taken away from a traffic collision we responded to last night.
The first being not to drive under the influence. The second is to stay on the scene of a traffic collision you are involved in.
33-year-old Rene Hernandez-Perez struck a parked car in the area of Lilly and Cross St. Rene fled the scene in his vehicle but was followed by the owners of the parked car.
Officers arrived and determined Rene was DUI, over twice the legal limit.
Rene was arrested for DUI, Misdemeanor Hit & Run and being unlicensed.
Fleeing the scene of an accident only makes the situation worse, it can result in a Misdemeanor Hit & Run charge or a Felony Hit & Run charge if someone is injured in the collision. NW3512″
