The South Sacramento CHP stopped a speeding Mercedes whose driver carried a loaded Glock handgun –
“On 3/6/2020 at approximately 2 am, a C Watch unit from the South Sacramento Area observed a white Mercedes traveling in excess of 90 mph on southbound SR-99 south of 12th Ave.
While attempting to catch up to the Mercedes, the unit observed the driver use the shoulder to pass a semi while still traveling in excess of 90 mph.
The unit made an enforcement stop on the Mercedes and upon contacting the driver, one of the officers observed a Glock 30, 45 caliber handgun with an extended mag partially hidden on the right side of the driver seat close to the drivers right hand.
The mag has a capacity of 24 rounds and contained 16 rounds, with an additional round in the chamber. The officers secured the gun and pulled the driver out of the Mercedes.
While speaking to the driver, he showed signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment. The driver was placed under arrest for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, DUI, and other gun related charges.
