Two women have been arrested for committing a series of at least seven burglaries at nail salons in San Bernardino County.
The robberies began on January 23rd. The similar nature of each case led Rancho Cucamonga detectives to believe they were committed by the same suspects. In every instance, the suspects entered the salons by smashing the front glass window with a rock. Various items were stolen, including nail dryers, gel machines and Beats headphones, among other things.
Rancho Cucamonga detectives were able to obtain license plate for the silver Dodge Magnum that the suspects used in every case, which they located on the date of the arrests. At about 2:30 AM on March 5th, deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Inside, they found three individuals, as well as items related to an additional nail salon burglary in Highland.
“Upon further investigation, it was determined the three subjects in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop were not involved in the burglaries in Rancho Cucamonga,” according to the release. “The driver of the vehicle borrowed the car from an acquaintance. The vehicle registration was issued to Monique Butler who matched the description of one of the suspects in the nail salon thefts in Rancho Cucamonga.”
Deputies served a search warrant at Butler’s home and there found both suspects, San Bernardino residents Monique Butler (31) and Kunnary Tan (23), as well as stolen items from the robberies. Both suspects were taken to the Rancho Cucamonga police station for questioning.
“Upon the conclusion of the interview, detectives linked them both to seven nail salon burglaries in Rancho Cucamonga and also connected them to additional burglaries in Fontana and San Bernardino,” according to the release.
Both suspects are being held at West Valley Detention Center without bail, due to a bail enhancement.
