It was 10AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, when Lemoore PD’s dispatch received a report of two individuals acting suspicious in a parking lot. The caller suspected the subjects were looking for unlocked cars as they were checking door handles in the parking lot on the 1000 block of North Lemoore Avenue.
Provided with the description of the suspects Lemoore police officers arrived and located one of the subjects. Before he could be questioned, 34-year old Jesus Serratos-Lazaro of Kerman jumped into a car and sped off. He gained speed traveling westbound on Hanford Armona Road. Police continued the pursuit until it became too much of a risk for the public as Serratos-Lazaro blew through a red light to head south on Highway 41 via the northbound lanes.
Not long after, Serratos-Lazaro crashed his car into a street sign at the intersection of West Bush Street and the exit ramp of SB Highway 41. Officers were nearby and witnessed the crash. As officers made their way to the crash site, Serratos-Lazaro exited the vehicle and tried making a run for it. He was apprehended by officers after a short foot chase.
Serratos-Lazaro was arrested for evading police officers, evading while driving the wrong way on a road way, hit and run, driving on a suspended license, and resisting an officer. He was booked at Kings County Jail with bail set at $85,000.
