“Early this morning around 2:50 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2020, Watch A patrol officers had just cleared the downtown jail with an arrest when they headed back to their beat to conduct extra patrol around the closed businesses at Magnolia Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard. The partner officers noticed two suspicious persons walking in the area and approached them. One ran away but was quickly caught by one officer while the other was detained.

The officers located a barbershop in the 9500 block of Magnolia Avenue that had a shattered window in the same area where the suspects were seen. They were able to contact the owner of the business, who responded to the scene and confirmed that a burglary occurred. The officers reviewed surveillance footage which showed the suspects enter the business and begin taking items. They left after ransacking the place.

The officers were able to identify both suspects as those inside the business based on the video, and the suspect who ran had stolen property from the barbershop in his possession.

Hunter Beckwith, 21-years-old of Riverside, and Charles Young, 37-years-old of Banning, were arrested and later booked into jail for commercial burglary. They have both since been released from custody.”
