A man received treatment from the Adventist Health Hospital on the afternoon of April 5 for a gunshot wound.
The hospital called the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office about the incident and officers responded.
The 54-year-old male victim spoke with deputies who came to the hospital before being taken to an out of county hospital. The press release states that he is expected to survive.
The investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the 71000 block of Hill Road in Covelo.
Detectives also developed information about a possible suspect in the shooting, who lived “in that area” – Randolph Paul Bisson.
Later, deputies saw Bisson driving in the area and when they attempted to stop him, he took off and initiated a pursuit.
In the pursuit, the suspect hit two patrol vehicles, then drove off until he lost control of his vehicle and fled on foot.
Bisson eneded up escaping deputies for now. The MCSO says, “At this time his current whereabouts are unknown and he is considered to be armed and dangerous.”
They added, “Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Stephanie Garnica at the Mendocino Sheriff’s Office at 707-463-4086 or the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Tip-line at 707-234-2100 or the We-Tip anonymous crime reporting hot-line at 800-782-7463.”
