Early morning on March 30, 2020, a man in dark clothing and a flashlight was spotted outside Faith Christian Church on the 400 block of West Elm Avenue in Coalinga. Police officers were called to investigate.
Upon arriving, officers contacted a 35-year old male standing in front of the church. He was identified as Coalinga resident Michael Flores. Flores was detained at the scene for an unrelated misdemeanor warrant and later booked at the Coalinga City Jail. He has since been released.
Around the church, police showed the victim the many disabled surveillance cameras they found. They had been removed from the building and left on the ground. The victim was asked to provide footage from before the cameras were disabled.
On March 31, 2020, footage was turned over to police showing the removal of the cameras by another male. Also documented in the video, a male matching Flores’ description acting as a “look out.”
Police are searching for the second male. Charges for attempted petty theft and conspiracy are being submitted for Flores.
