SAN RAFAEL — A suspected gang member was arrested on April 13th for two separate crimes. The suspect faces two charges involving an assault and one charge for an unrelated vehicle theft.
The suspect is Mynor M. Garcia-Tacam, a 20-year-old construction worker, who lives in San Rafael. Garcia-Tacam was taken into custody following a disturbance at Pickleweed Park.
Two victims were assaulted by three men who approached them in the park. There was a verbal exchange and the victims were followed along the 3600 block of Kerner Boulevard.
The three men began throwing rocks at the two victims, which quickly escalated into a fight. During the melee one of the victims was struck in the ribs by a metal padlock.
Investigating officers located one of the suspects about an hour later, but the other two suspects remain at large. Garcia-Tacam was taken into custody at 5:10 p.m. on the 100 block of Novato Street.
Garcia-Tacam was booked into Marin County Jail, where he remains in custody in lieu of $75,000 bond. His first charge is assault with a deadly weapon likely to cause great bodily injury. His second charge is participating in a criminal street gang.
Furthermore, Garcia-Tacam faces a third charge pertaining to a court order for an unrelated theft of a vehicle. He was scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on April 17.
In 2019, Garci-Tacam was arrested twice for possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property. He also allegedly stole a vehicle last year. Prior to that he was arrested for driving without a license in 2018.
