45-year-old San Luis Obispo man arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

The San Luis Obispo Police Department tells this story of assault on its streets –
“On April 9, 2020 at approximately 12:30 pm San Luis Obispo Police Officers responded to the 100 Block of Higuera for the report of a stabbing that had just occurred. The victim, who was identified as 49-year-old Nathan Ryland of San Luis Obispo, told officers he was in front of a business when he was approached by Twyman.
Ryland and Twyman became involved in a confrontation, at which time Twyman pulled out a knife and stabbed Ryland. Twyman left the area towards the 101 Overpass. Ryland provided a description of Twyman to police and said he did not know him prior to this incident.
A short time later, 45-year-old Brian Twyman was detained by police in the area of the 101 Overpass near Higuera. Twyman matched the description of the suspect and was identified as the person who stabbed Ryland. Twyman was placed under arrest for PC 245(a), Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was later booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail was set at $50,000.
Ryland was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for a laceration to his abdominal area. He was treated for the injuries he suffered and was released from the hospital. This is an on-going investigation and police are continuing to review evidence. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is asked to call the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
